2024 Ins & Outs, The Trend List, & The S*** I Am Leaving In 2023
Happy Frickin New Year! How are we feeling? How was the Xmas break for you? After a restful break with all the festivities, I am now sat in Cornwall, planning the best year yet. Let's kick off the new year with a big ol' bang, and the ultimate all things new year blog post, grab a brew, settle down on your sofa, and let's begin!
First things first, my 2024 Ins & Outs...
Ins:
Listening to your body: Listen up, it is time to focus on holistic wellness, from physical, mental, and emotional well-being including drinking more water and intuively exercising.
Chasing real dopamine: Time to focus on real dopamine through experiences and accomplishments as dopamine brings a positive mental well-being and a positive, purpose-driven life e.g. instead of doom scrolling on social media, spend time pursuing a project.
Respecting boundaries: Establishing boundaries is essential for maintaining healthy relationships and personal well-being, as they define limits, promote self-respect, and ensure a balance betweeen time and energy e.g. work/ life balance.
Outs:
Toxic positivity: We are moving away from toxic positivity, all about maintaining a positive mindset without addressing any of the underlying issues. A more balanced and authentic approach to emotions is the way to go!
Hustle culture: We are saying a big FU to the relentless hustle culture, with its emphasis on constant productivity and overworking that leads to burnout, shitty mental health and a decline in wellbeing. Balance baby.
Elaborate ''maintanenance'' routines: A move away from those ''12 step routines'' all over social media, time to live a more simple and slow routines to help reduce stress and focus on what truly matters. It's slow girl era.
Next Up, The Trend List....
Trend no 1: Cozy Cardio
Cozy cardio is all about moving your body while still feeling as cozy and comfortable as possible. Imagine: lighting your favourite candle in your living room before following along with a yoga video. Heavenly.
Trend no 2: Living for Longevity
Health trends like a focus on plant-based eating, sleep health and gut health point to a continued desire to live better for longer. Consider nutrition, sleep and exercise as a no 1 priority.
Trend no 3: Wellness Tourism
Rest and recovery is making its way into the travel industry with "wellness tourism," aka the idea of travel focused on health and well-being, e.g. trips focused on fun things like yoga, self-care, and all the stress-free activities.
Trend no 4: CBD
CBD is in. Studies have shown that CBD may reduce chronic pain as it targets the endocannabinoid system in the brain that influences biological functions such as eating, memory, anxiety, and growth.
Trend no 5: Going Alcohol Free
This is one for the sober curious. Studies have shown that young people in the UK are increasingly turning away from alcohol. In fact, one in five young adults don't drink at all. to bring in to the new year.
Lastly, S*** I am leaving in 2023...
Self doubt, 2023 was a year where I doubted my abilities, I really want to have a bit more self belief and confidence in 2024, so I make the most of the year and smash my goals.
Overthinking, can lead to a whole lotta stress, I need to try and get out of my head a bit more and enjoy what I am doing in the moment, the content I am creating and
Little Miss Procrastinator over here. Procrastination can result in missed opportunities, increased stress, and compromised productivity. Time to change this up in the new year.
