The Ultimate Hot Girl Guide To Autumn
Autumn is officially here, the air smells exactly like pumpkin spice and Michael Buble is defrosting as I type. It is the most wonderful time of the year. And at The Life of Molly HQ (aka from my sofa ), I am ready to go with all things Q4, starting with a mini rebrand. I am not sure why but I just love Autumn, from the cosy vibes, the fashion inspiration and all the carb-heavy dishes, but also due to the unconscious reset we do to prepare for the final quarter of the year, all to get ourselves ready for the new year (yes, I said it!)
So first things first, it is time to reset...
Declutter and Organise: My recommendation is to spend a Sunday afternoon, listening to a poddy, with a coffee and get organised and create a clean environment for the new season.
Seasonal Vibes: It is all about aesthetics! Think about warm, earthy tones, cosy blankets, and autumnal-themed decor like pumpkins, leaves, and candles. Oh, how heavenly.
Hearty Meals: Reevaluate your diet and incorporate hearty, rich and warm food. My current go-to is a spagbol, or a roast dinner.
Exercise: Update your exercise routine based on the season. At the mo, I am all about candlelit pilates in the evening, or going for a long countryside walk with a matcha.
Goalsetting 101: Autumn is a great time to self-reflect and set up a plan for the future. Consider: What do you want to achieve by the end of the year? And what are you preparing to achieve in 2024?
Self-Care: Prioritise self-care routines, especially with those darker evenings and mornings. Indulge in warm bubbly baths, read a good thriller, or pamper yourself with a spa session.
Wardrobe Transition: Update your wardrobe with autumnal clothes. Swap out summer shorts, bikinis and dresses for oversized sweaters, scarves, and chunky boots.
Connect with Loved Ones: I love this time of year, as it is all about cosy get-togethers with friends and family. Autumn is a great time for bonding over a roast dinner and an episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
Change of weather, change of routine
The key for this slower period is prioritising self-care, staying active, and nourishing both your body and mind throughout the autumn season.
Daily Non-Negotiables:
Morning Journalling: Start your day with a quick journalling session to set a positive mindset for the day ahead. I focus on daily gratitude and intentions. Who doesn't love a to-do list?
Morning Movement: I am a sucker for an early morning sesh, whether that is pilates, hitting the gym for a hardcore strength session or a fresh autumnal walk with a Pret.
Hydration is Key: Stay well-hydrated by drinking hot teas, a load of water or seasonal comforting beverages like spiced chai. (Shoutout to Starbucks, we love you!)
Daily HGW: Take advantage of the cooler weather and go for ya hot girl walk. It's my favourite way to clear my mind, take a bit of time for myself and enjoy one of my podcasts.
Nourishing Dinner: I am in my homebody era, and I love cooking delicious (carb-focused) dinners that just make me feel so happy.
Always in Our Bath Era: I have baths all year round, but Autumn is the best time to soak in the tub. Wind down with a warm, relaxing bath infused with salts and essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus.
Less Screen Time, More Reading: As much as I love being horizontal, binge-watching tele, and scrolling TikTok for hours. Take more time to read a good autumnal novel before bed, and relax.
Quality Sleep: Get the ZZZs in, maintain a consistent sleep schedule and create a calming bedtime routine. My recommendation is This Works Pillow Spray, to help wind down.
Let's Hit the Recs...
Fashion:
If you live, breathe, and love athleisure, the Bo & Tee Jumper is on my current wishlist (if my mum reads this, hey hun!)
If you want to be all the cosy vibes this autumn, jump onto the knitwear trend with this dreamy Topshop jumper.
If you want to follow the trends, Tomato Girl Fall is all the fashion gurus can talk about. Add this pop of colour to your outfit for a bit of oomph.
Food:
If you want a hearty dish, my go-to midweek meal is always a creamy chicken and cheesy veggie orzo, paired with a glass of Nosecco.
If you need a quick and easy dish, nothing is better than a cheeky traybake when you are low on time, add the protein, veggies and potato with a bit of seasoning and let it cook. Ideal.
If you are feeling healthier, try the lighter ginger & garlic cod fillet recipe from Osu vinegar, check it out here.
Books:
If you want to reminisce about summer because we all miss the heat and the sunshine, I recommend the smutty 'It Happened One Summer', it will definitely get you hot under the collar.
If you want to sink your teeth into a thriller, read the debut novel 'Stone Cold Fox' for all the mysterious vibes.
If you want to cry over your matcha, I feel ya, you need to read 'The Seven-Year Slip', it was so raw, so real, and so emotional.
Podcasts:
If you want to LOL, you need to check out my new current fav, 'Giggly Squad', you will non-stop giggle, however not suitable for the faint-hearted.
If you want to feel inspired, by all things lifestyle, fashion and beauty, plug in and listen to the 'Sheer Luxe' podcast.
If you want to better yourself, check out the inspirational 'The Skinny Confidential' podcast, I also love the wellness brand Lauryn has as well (Hi mum, again!)
