My Mykonosian Travel Checklist

Hello you lovely people, how are you all? It is September, and my birthday month, yay! I am so excited to share with you my birthday travels to Mykonos, but before we jet off to sunbathe in Greecian sun with a glass of bubbles, and celebrate turning 21 on a sunbed in a beach clubs. I need to pack... and here I am, the queen of procrastination writing this blog instead of actually packing. Oops.

If you are an OG The Life of Molly reader then you might remember 18 months ago I wrote a blog post of my Barcelona travel checklist: But I thought I'd write an updated checklist, and instead of just the bare necessities, these are more fun, as there are for my 21st birthday! So get your pen ready to tick these off with me, let's start...

A Reusable Mask

Who'd have thought this would be a priority when packing, but hey what a strange year 2020 has been. As someone who has recently educated themselves of the terrible result of plastic pollution during COVID 19, we need to try and stop using single-use plastic. So a reusable mask is an environmentally-conscious option whilst also being safe, protecting yourself and others. Also, they've become *quite* the fashion statement. Below is a list of face-masks I'm loving that you should invest in... (And don't forget your hand sanitiser.)

A Beach Bag

If you know me, you know I love handbags. I am even treating myself to a Prada backpack for my birthday. I mean you only turn 21 once right? So in true beach club attire planning, I went out and bought a Grecian-style Mykonosian (yes it's a word) wicker beach bag from Ruby Room in Saffron Walden. It was the only one in the store and it was calling out to me! The bag is really timeless and is the perfect size and style for this trip, as well as future sunny breaks I head to.

The 'IT' Swimming Costume

For this holiday and 21st birthday occasion, I went out and bought myself a couple of stylish one-piece swimming costumes and well they are seriously a V I B E. I wanted to dress up a little bit for days at the beach clubs (whilst also covering up the sushi and cocktail bloat!) So I bought three from Missguided, including this white minimal cut out swimming 'IT' costume, that will be making a feature on my Instagram. Explore some of my favourite swimwear brands below...

Statement Heels

' Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.' - Marilyn Monroe.

I bought my snakeskin animal print chunky heels from Missguided a while back, and they are my go-to heels, especially for holidays. Pair them with a simple white dress, or an all-black outfit. And with those heels, you are ready to rule the world, or at least look and feel great when wandering out for another plate of food.

Suncream (DUH!)

This is another main priority and high up on the packing list with your passport, your face mask and undies. Well hello, safety first, we do not want to be a cherry tomato! If you have read my recent blog post about being a Dermalogica #skinfluencer, then you'll know that I was kindly #gifted some of their Clear Start Products, including the SPF30 Clearing Defence suncream, and I love it.

A Light-Hearted Book/ And Magazine(s)

I love reading, on a sunbed by the pool, with a mojito. Utter bliss. Ever since lockdown began, I re-discovered my love of reading, and I have read some fabulous books (listed below). However, my sister has mentioned that our 9 days in Mykonos will be jammed pack so I might not have time to loose myself in a novel. Instead, I'm planning to take a couple of my Vogue subscription magazines for a light read and browse whilst patiently waiting for my sushi. YUM.

  • Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce

  • Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

Thank you for reading my travel checklist, and I hope it inspires you. This blog post is just a snapshot of the clothes, accessories, and other bits I am packing to go away. If I described my whole list, we'd be here for days. Anyways got to dash, off to pack my suitcase, catch a flight and spend the next 10 days celebrating turning 21 in the Mykonos sun. See you soon x
