My 7 AW Wardrobe Essentials
Hi all you lovely people, how are you all? Here is a (very) belated welcome to the month of October, and the beginning of autumn. The knitted sweaters are out, the Starbucks pumpkin spiced lattes are being ordered, and the fires are being lit. With the change of weather, the change of season, and the change of eating BBQ's to roast dinners, I thought I'd share my change of wardrobe. Hello, winter boots.
As you may or may not know I have tried to become more sustainable with the way I shop, and the way I style my clothes. If you can't think of wearing something more than 10 times, don't buy it. Therefore on today's blog post, I am sharing my 7 AW Wardrobe Essentials- so let us grab a brew, tuck into the fashion inspiration, and feel reinspired by the clothes in your wardrobe.
These Boots Are Made For Walking
Ah, goodbye summer sandals, say hi to my thigh-high boots. How I've missed you. Boots are versatile and a necessity for the autumnal ventures to a local pub, a day out shopping in Oxford Street, or a girls night to a fancy restaurant. Here are a couple of ways you can style your booties: with jeans and a statement graphic tee, a t-shirt dress and a chunky belt, or a personal favourite is a simple black wrap dress and a statement clutch.
Say hi to my favourite piece of clothing, oversized jumpers. I live in jumpers through the colder months, from the loungewear styled sweaters from the Playboy and Missguided Collection to cropped jumpers paired with cargo trousers, to my brightly coloured knitted roll necks from Topshop, I live for jumpers. Moreover, jumper dresses are a good addition in the winter, as they keep you warm and are easily styled with boots or trainers, depending on your occasion.
You Can Never Have Too Many Bags
I've always said handbags are like cars, investment pieces. And for winter months (and all year round) they are a serious necessity. For winter it is good to have a simple black bag, that you can style with anything. However, I find a statement clutch or handbag accelerates an outfit, and makes it POP. One of my favourite clutches is the Moschino clutch, ideal for all year round. Style this statement piece with black jeans and a black blouse with boots, and you are ready for some pub grub.
A recent trend that I am living for currently: the office meets everyday wear... I have seen many influencers and bloggers jump on this trend, and well you will feel like a CEO in an oversized blazer, trust me. I recently bought a white oversized blazer from ASOS and I loved how I could style it. With jeans, animal print heels, and a messy bun. Since then, I have bought a darker toned blazer which will be perfect for the winter evenings. Be the boss.
It's In My Jeans
One of the wardrobe essentials EVERYONE has, but a piece of clothing many of us struggle to find one that suits our body shapes. I am a sucker for a mom jean (good style for when you are bloated!) I love jeans and they are a go-to when I am not sure what to wear, and I have to be out the door in 5 minutes. Jeans can be worn with anything, a white blouse, an oversized jumper, a crop top, a black bodysuit, animal print, etc etc etc, the list goes on.
Sharing my winter (and lockdown) need, Loungewear (and slippers & a blanket.) Aka the best part of the winter months. I LOVE my joggers, and for my birthday I received my new favourite loungewear co-ord from Topshop: and yes they're tie-dye. Moreover, they are one of the comfiest pair of joggers I have, and are perfect for a day out styled with chunky trainers or tucked up under a blanket styled with my new ugg slippers I am ready for a day with the sofa, anyone want to join and watch Love Actually yet?
Wrap Up Warm
Last but not least, outerwear including your big puffer coats, your leather jackets and shackets. Not just a fashion necessity, but a full-on winter necessity whether you're a commuter (like me), or going on an autumnal walk with your dog, or your out for before the curfew hits. Wrap up warm. One of my favourite coats is the aviator coat from Topshop, the IT coat of last winter, and wow it keeps me warm (and stylish). Make sure you pack a woolly hat and a pair of gloves, and you are ready for whatever this winter brings.
And there we go, winter is coming. I do miss my bikinis, cycling shorts and crop tops and all of my Mykonos summer wardrobe (sigh) however nothing is as snuggly as an oversized knit, or a blanket on a grey Sunday afternoon watching a chick flick. Anyways, I am off to continue my well-needed rest (I have a split nerve in my back so please pray for me), I will be back on the blog very soon.
