Halloween Meets Quarantine

Happy Halloween Week everyone, how are you? Due to the constant changes of lockdown, tiers and curfews... this year's Halloween celebrations are a little different. However, please do not feel uninspired. I have created this blog post with hopes that these ghouly ideas will keep your Hallo eve spooky and fun. Are you ready for it?

Get Your Pumpkin Out

My favourite thing to do during October is pumpkin carving, to be honest, it is the only Halloween inspired thing I do. Throughout the years mum and I have created a couple of cute (and not so cute) pumpkins. You know me, I love being creative, and it is definitely something you can do with your friends, family, your children or significant other, depending on your COVID 19 regulations. Venture to the pumpkin patch, choose your pumpkin, a glass of prosecco and use this blog post as some guidelines.

Here is the easiest step by step guide:

  1. Cut the top of the pumpkin off, and THOROUGHLY clean the insides out of the pumpkin. It is gross.

  2. Once chosen your design (as you can see I chose stars) carve this out into the side of the pumpkin.

  3. When you are happy with your final design, place a little candle inside, light it up, and spread Halloween cheer.

The Great Spooky Bake Off

Have you been watching the GBBO or are you living in a parallel universe? Like everyone through lockdown baking has become a hobby we have learnt and loved. So I jumped on the bandwagon and made some Halloween treats, because if you can't go out and trick and treat, Well bring the treats to your kitchen, without even having to go out into the cold. Below is how Lotty and I made some little alien cupcakes. We used the Slime Cupcake Kit from the brand Cake Decor. It was so easy to do. You can thank me later guys.

Here is the easiest step by step recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Empty the cupcake mix into a bowl and add 1 egg, 35ml vegetable oil, 25ml of water. Mix it.

  3. Pour the mixture evenly into the cupcake cases, and bake for 20-25 minutes.

  4. When cupcakes are cooled down, add icing, the slime and any other accessories (we bought the eyes to make the cakes look like funky aliens, it is Halloween!)

  5. EAT & ENJOY.

Dress to Impress For Halloween & Chill

Now I understand if you're a SERIOUS Halloween lover, it is disheartening that you can't go out, trick or treat, and hit the town. I have never been one to 'dress up' previously, but this outfit *I* can get behind. If you don't want to dress up to the nines, then take my advice. My Halloween meets quarantine wardrobe is slightly different, and not as innovative, no I am not dressing up as a ghost, or an animal. I will be dressing up in my Chelsea Peers unicorn PJs, ready to watch some Disney films and chill. I am a HalloQueen!

Netflix has been a good friend through 2020, from Tiger King (remember that time?) to Selling Sunset. This Halloween I have decided to have a proper movie marathon and if you want to join me. Here are just some of the recommendations I got sent in through Instagram...

  • Hocus Pocus

  • Halloweentown

  • The Addams Family

  • The Haunted Mansion

  • Corpse Bride

  • Edward Scissorhands

  • Scooby-Doo Films

And we are prepared for the Hallo-week celebrations (whatever they bring!) Continue to celebrate life events, being with your loved ones even if it's virtually; my nan and grandad are zoom lovers now and enjoying your weekend if it's in your PJs with homemade cookies then rock it. If you do decide to recreate any of my Halloween recommendations please do share it on social media or just ping me a message. I would love to see it.

I will be back very soon, Love Mols x
